The STYLE Story

Life Happens...

You've been wearing clothes since you can remember--haven't shown up naked yet!  But then life happened.....you got promoted, switched jobs, down-sized; you got married, moved to the suburbs, had kids, moved to the city, divorced; your body changed; you changed.....the wardrobe that was working for you just isn't anymore.  The STYLE Principle is here to help!

The STYLE Principle is a Chicago-based wardrobe styling company established by Susan Mowder.  Working 16 years in the fashion industry, Susan discovered true personal STYLE is Specific To Your Life & Essence.  While most people do have an idea of the style they wish to exude, the challenge is often the time, desire and sense of how to achieve it.  Susan--armed with a MS in Education, a knack for proper fit, and a passion for fashion--has traveled across the country teaching the secrets of wardrobe styling success.  The STYLE Principle was created so she could do the same for you!

The mission, a wardrobe that is:

  • Reflective of your personal style

Cropped Pants -- Fashion Fabulous!

Think resort, think Spring -- this year, think cropped pants!  Slim to slouchy, neutral to neon, corporate to casual -- it's all good.  Pair then back to a long matching jacket, retro print blouse, or vibrant knit top.  Since your shoes will be featured, opt for an artistic platform, a sophisticated sandal, or an earthy flat.  No need to wait due to weather, buy now and wear now with a sleek boot.  Cropped pants -- short on fabric, but this season, huge in fashion!

Cropped Pants -- Figure Flattering?

If you are medium height (5'4"-5'8") with a slim rectangular body shape, you can wear cropped pants!  Now, that is just half the battle.  The secret to looking truly fabulous is correct proportion.  Since the design of the pant is already cutting your visual line, be very careful where else you cut that line with color and/or other design elements.  If your top is a different color than your pants, wear shoes the same color as your pants to add length to your legs.  When choosing a jacket or top, opt for styles that fall below the crotch line to make the overall silhouette appear taller and slimmer.  If everything you wear is cropped, you look like you "are growing" or have a really bad dry cleaner.  If you are one of the lucky ones, wear them loud, and wear them proud this season!
